The Roots

Welcome to Cookonthebrightside, my very own space where history, music,culture and food intersect. My roots are in India but I was brought up in the Middle-East and finally ended up in the United States. Along the way, I connected with many people and their families from every walk of life and my recipes reflect that diversity. Some recipes are handed down straight from a "mamaneh" (mother) from Iran or a "valiyaumma"(grandma) from the villages of Kerala, India.

What is it that fuels you? For me, it’s healthy cooking. I love how therapeutic it is and hence thought of sharing all of my experiments with my readers. Caution: my recipes involve a bit of spice so it is not for the faint of heart!


Explore my site and all that I have to offer; perhaps Cookonthebrightside will portray that we are not so different from each other after all,that spices and ingredients do connect us by a common thread across continents.
